Ben talked about his views on the USB-C connector fand its a long time replacing lightning conector. He posted his blog post here: https://roethigtech.blogspot.com/2023/09/apples-usb-c-path-to-iphone-has-been.html

“Honestly, the USB-C connector should have been introduced to the iPhone with the iPhone X.  Apple having basically different connectors that do the same thing on the iPhone and Mac for almost a decade is kinda strange.  It also would have allowed Apple to dictate cable standards like they’re doing with wireless charging with Magsafe forming the basis for Qi 2”
